My 16yr Old Son Sat Up From The Sofa And

my 16yr old son sat up from the sofa and stated he heard a "pop" around his lower right side of rib cage area. he then started with pain which lasted about 15mins.. That occured on Saturday and he has not either felt any pain or discomfort since. With your expierence what do you think occurred?
