My 3 Year Old Dog Ate Some String Form A

my 3 year old dog ate some string form a floor rug this morning, since then he has vomited 2 times and when trying to poop the string started to come out ,and is now stuck. when I try to pull on the string he cries what can I do before having to take him to the vet? is there something I can feed him to help him go.
