My 92 Year Old Mum, Healthy, Independent, Good Sense Of

my 92 year old Mum, healthy, independent, good sense of humor, has developed weakness in legs especially right foot, hard to pick up to take a step, slurred speech, and confusion at times. she drank heavy at times, had acute nephritis and rheumatic fever as a child. there was no evidence in her recent cat scan of any bleed, lesion, etc. all looked well. she has gone from an independent (still drove locally) to the above struggles in approximately 6 months. Any ideas, suggestions, etc would be a comfort. We have an appointment with Neurologist next week, are we headed in the right direction Doctor?
