My Daughter Went To The Dr. To See If She

my daughter went to the dr. to see if she had strep throat. She does not, but was told she had the flu. She has white spots on her tonsills, sever sore throat and now is complaining of a feeling like pins are being pushed into her ears. Is this the flu, or could it be something more?
