My Dr Told Me Today I Have Protein In My

my dr told me today I have protein in my urine, I am a diabetic and I had skin cancer removed from my face this summer and they have found a growth on my liver could the skin cancer have caused the growth to form. I had a MRI done and the radioglist said the growth my be benign he couldn't tell. What should be my next step? Thank you
