My Family Doctor Had Me Do An Ultrasound Of My

my family doctor had me do an ultrasound of my thyroid and found that I have many thyroid nodules.
She has now ordered a thyroid uptake nuclear scan. I went online and the American Thyroid Assn says they usually don't do these scans anymore. I want to know if I should take the ultrasound and see an endocrinologist before taking the nuclear scan, because if I have to have a needle biopsy I will have to see a specialist anyway? I am a 72 year old female.
