My Father Has Been Diagnosed With CHF With Some Fluid

my father has been diagnosed with CHF with some fluid in his lungs being taken care of by 20 mg of lasix as needed. He had a pacemaker put in 1 month ago. He is 91. He is still having shortness of breath. His diastolic is in the 80s to 110s. He is agitated. His pulse occasionally shoots up past 110 and even to 130. He takes Lopressor as needed. Lately he is smelling chalk. What can be done for him and why is he smelling chalk?
