My Fiance Has A Sharp Pain On His Left Side

my fiance has a sharp pain on his left side of rib cage. He didn't think anything of it until yesterday. He drove to work but not able to lift his left to drive. When he presses down like on his last rib, it hurts. He can't twist or bend down much. What do you think it may be?
