My Friend Stopped Chewing Tobacco A Few Years Ago...ever Since

my friend stopped chewing tobacco a few years ago...ever since he has had a chronic cough. Also he is an alocoholic drinking over 8 to 10 beers plus per binge. He says his symptoms are choking , at times trouble swallowing and cough. He does not want to seek a doctors advice as hes afraid hes dying as his wife passed away from cancer a year and a half ago. He is only 50 years old.
