My Grandson Is Now Diagnosed With ADHD He Is 6yrs

my grandson is now diagnosed with ADHD he is 6yrs old (they see the dr. next week for the complete summary results next week) and I am wondering what types of medication would be safe for a 6yr old. have heard horror story's about Adderol and Ritlyn (spelling ?) I was told they do not give the drugs to young children any more is that true.
