My Husband Has Diabetes And His Last Urine Test Showed

my husband has diabetes and his last urine test showed protein in urine with reading of 1800. His doctor told him to stop taking amlod/benazprl 5/20mg and take irbesartan 300mg l a day. His blood pressure has gone up to 196/101
He has taken the amlod/benazprl 5/20 again. Should he take irbesartan with the amlod/benazprl ? How can he protect his kidneys? He takes 2000mg metforman dailey and glipizide xl 5mg 1 a day. He is 73 yrs old.
