My Husband Recently Had Shingles Jaw ,ear And ,neck Area.

my husband recently had shingles jaw ,ear and ,neck area. Now is having severe pain in that side of face and neck. At first we thought ear so went to ENT nurse practioner who diagnosed TMJ and ordered Voltaren gen. Haven't gotten yet. The more I read about the pain from shingles the more it sounds like he is suffering from shingles pain. If I get the Voltaren gel I am very concerned this will not help and may be detrimental to this pain. Can you offer your advice.
