My Husband Woke Up On Sunday Morning And His Pillow

my husband woke up on Sunday morning and his pillow was bright yellow, no smell to it, what could this be, he came home from work yesterday, couldn't get warm, flu like symptons and back ache? what could this be, I have washed the pillowcase and it has stained it??
