my left leg has been edematous for about two months. It involves the whole leg. A deep pit forms wherever it is pressed. A measurement made just above the ankle was one inch larger than in the right. Also the top of the thigh was the same . The left leg is always a different colour, often flushed . Elevating the leg partly helps, but the edema returns quickly when I stand up.I had an ultrasound of the leg that found no DVT .I now have a referral to a vascular surgeon, but the wait list is 6 months long. I am worried that there may be an impediment in blood or lymph flow higher up, perhaps in the pelvic cavity. Or could there be a tumour pressing on something?I have a strong family history of abdominal cancer. My mother's father died in his 50's, and my mother died at 69. I am 63 and a half.I have a pelvic ultrasound scheduled for Nov. 14.But there are alarm bells ringing increasingly more loudly in my head that I need a diagnosis and treatment before it is too late. Other items in my history include pelvic organ prolapse, for which I am obliged to have a pessary, as my bladder and bowel are severely prolapsed. Also my lipids are elevated. I have fibromyalgia, which is controlled a little by weekly Methotrexate. A cardiac CT showed I have a partial blockage of the LAD artery. I note that I am feeling increasingly weary, and have difficulty keeping up with my routine. I get short of breath walking up a flight of stairs. Today my GP's secretary said I should go to our small local hospital's ER. I just don't know what to do! Could I please get some medical advice?
Thank you,
Christina A. Hopkins.
