My Mom Who Ended Up With Alzheimer/dementia In Her Late

my mom who ended up with alzheimer/dementia in her late 80's always thought she smelled gas in my all electric house. My mom was in her late 60's and 70's. I am in my 60's, my sense of smell sometimes is weak. I can smell but sometimes it is not as strong as I think it should be. Should I be concerned?
