My Mother In Law Had A Suspicious Lesion On Her

my mother in law had a suspicious lesion on her head biopsied by her Dermotologist he bispsied the lestion and went ahead and removed the lesion. The biospy results showed Melanoma and now she will need to see a surgeon for further evaluation. My question... should the derm Doctor waiteed for the biospu results before he removed the lesion.... as I see it now she can't have the lesion staged and i bet she will need to have lymp nodes checked. I think the derm screwed up!
