My Mother Is 80yrs Old And Has A Corn On

my mother is 80yrs old and has a corn on the sole of her foot. it was quite big and was removed surgically once but now has come up again after just 6 weeks. The doctor has suggested removal by laser now. She has malformed feet with permanent swelling on foot and ankles. I want to know how fast will her recovery be, will there be stiches and what are chances of it occuring again
