My Son Had His Four Wisdom Teeth Extracted This Afternoon

my son had his four wisdom teeth extracted this afternoon around 4pm. His doctor prescribed a mouthwash, vicodin, and an antibiotic because he had a small infection. He also prescribed a medrol pack. My son doesn't want to take the medrol pack and would prefer to take advil. He tries to avoid drugs as much as possible. He has been icing faithfully and seems to be making a good recovery. Do you know if avoiding the medrol pack will cause complications or just have the potential of increased swelling?
