Neurologist Has Scheduled A Memory Test For My 86 Year

neurologist has scheduled a memory test for my 86 year old mother. however, it is some type of computer generated test. my mother has never used a computer in her life. what kind of memory tests were conducted before everything became a computerized? I'm sure memory tests were conducted manually at some point.
