Over The Past Two Years I Started Having An Itching

over the past two years I started having an itching thumb on my right hand. The skin then became very thickened and lost sensation, also continued to itch. The the skin cracked and created a shallow fissure that would bleed and was very painful. Then the thick skin would peal away from the split in layers until it was down to flat skin that was shiny and felt like a burn. It would heal and restart the cycle in a few days. Now it is just down to maybe a day or two between flair ups and affects my other thumb and index finger. I was diagnosed with dishidrotic eczema but it doesn't seem to match the symptoms. That one says it starts with small blisters that pop and then peel open revealing sensitive skin. I've used their clobetesol cream that they suggested and it does nothing to stop the symptoms. Can you tell me what this is because it is very painful, very itchy and I'm keeping Band-Aid brand bandaids in business. There has to be an answer to this problem because what I've been told I think is a bunch of misinformation. One person told me to have my thyroid checked because it can cause severe dry skin especially on the fingers and because she knows I have lost all of my eyebrow hair and that also can be a sign of a thyroid problem. Who knows, maybe you can give me a more intelligent diagnosis on my problem. I've been to a dermatologist and get no answers nor relief or hope.
