Re: Sleep Disorders / Chronic Pain I Was Diagnosed With

re: sleep disorders / chronic pain
I was diagnosed with alpha wave sleep intrusion 10-12 years ago by a sleep specialist in Canada. The treatment was 3mg clonazeam. My health has deteriorated significantly over the past five years (hitting 40 was a trigger for something) and my new rheumatologist in California said that my fibromyalgia was secondary to a primary illness of non-specific auto immune disease. I just had another sleep study done with findings of alpha wave intrusion and REM specific obstructive apnea with a sleep efficiency at 67%; no wonder my pain is getting worse and I need 12 + hours of sleep to barely function. The problem is, I got too sick to work and can't afford insurance so I am going to a clinic. IE - someone who might not be equipped to deal with this issue and it will take 8-10 moths to see an actual specialist when covered by MEDICAL. What is the current treatment for alpha wave intrustion? Is clonazepam still the answer? I had been weening myself off (down to 2mg) because a pharmacist friend thought it was dangerous for me to be on that dose for so long
