Sometimes My Cat Goes Threw Episodes Where He Acts Like

sometimes my cat goes threw episodes where he acts like something is trying to get him. he wants to hide under the bed or some where else. if he is out he stays up off the floor. he will lick frantically at his front legs mostly, but also his sides. his tail twitches and swishes most of the time. he looks around intently at the surface he is on like he is looking for something. after licking he takes off running to a different location. when he's going threw this and I try to touch his back he will drop down so I cant touch him. I even have to coax him out to feed him. then out of the blue he will come running, jump up in my lap & want lots of loving. after a while he'll start licking his front legs, looking around nervously and he takes off again. I've had him since he was 8 months old, he is now around 10. these episodes started 3 years ago & its happened about 5 times or so. they last anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks.
