This Afternoon I Saw A Long, Squiggly Line, Like A

this afternoon I saw a long, squiggly line, like a black piece of thread, along the left edge of my left eye and it moved with my eye. Then for a couple of hours I had no symptoms and now I have a light flashing down the left side of my left eye. No pain. what could be causing this and should it be looked at immediately?
