This Morning I Woke Up And Cleared My Throat Like

this morning I woke up and cleared my throat like i do a billion times in my life. it had brown specs in it. I have had a light sore throat for a couple months. they did a chest xray for the mid back pain. nothing. is there something wrong with my throat or is it because I used to be a smoker?
