What Causes Pain And Inflammation In Upper Arm?

I had a sudden very sharp burning pain in my right upper arm between the shoulder and elbow. I do have a tiny tear in the supraspinatus tendon and inflammation as well as impingement, but this felt like someone had put a hot poker to my arm and I still have the symptoms if I should happen to stretch my arm a little to the side and back of me.
