What Causes Severe Hair Loss?

Am 35yrs lady.had a problem of severe hair loss. I consulted a doctor. She prescribed mx2 lotion , iorn tablets and biotin tabs .am using these medicines for 3 weeks but no use .my hair iS still fallinfalling.is this mx2 useful.how many days will it takes to effeffect.plz tell me Sir
