Why Do I Have A Lump Situated Near The Back

why do I have a lump situated near the back of my mouth beside my wisdom teeth?? (Retromolar area, I think)?? Could this be cancer?????!!!!!

I am a 20 year old male smoker. I have been experiencing some issues with my wisdom teeth over the last year or so (Pericoronitis). I managed to kick the infection by using salt water rinses and ever since, my wisdom teeth have been coming in slowly but surly. They are still considered ''partially erupt'' by my dentist however, they are pretty much all there and visible now lol.

3 days ago I noticed a lump next to my teeth at the back, It is painless and doesn't seem to really look red or irritated to me. I went to my dentist today and was told by her that this is a casual case of cheek biting. According to my dentist, it apparently seems like I have managed to catch my cheek with my back molars during my sleep. Surly, if this was the case, my lump would be sore, red or irritated or all 3? My dentist is very young and is still going through some training. She is considered ''qualified'' but after all, it is the NHS. This is probably why I am still worried even after getting her opinion on this. I suppose I can't really trust her yet. I have only knew her for the last 3 months or so but the bad thing is, I currently stay in a very remote part of Scotland and there is no chance I could get to another dentist for a second opinion until the winter weather is over and done with.

After coming back from my dentist, I was still worried, so stupidly enough, I looked on google for other answers and diagnoses. I found loads of photos that looked like what I have and 90% of them seemed to be related to cancers / tumours!!!! - Please bare in mind that I worry so much about my health. For example, In the last 6 months or so, I have managed to trick myself into believing I have lung cancer, throat cancer, testicular cancer and now, mouth/oral/gum cancer. I am the worlds worst for this. Worrying probably puts more stress on my body than any of the issues that I've physically experienced. I just can't help it.

My lump is pink, painless and feels hard to the touch. It doesn't always interfere with my bite. It only interferes with my bite if I suck my cheek in a little before biting down. When I do that it does seem that the lump sits perfectly between my top and bottom wisdom teeth. This is the only thing that gives me hope that it is infact what the dentist said it is. Other than that though, it does look like some of the cancer photos I've seen tonight!

I was told by my dentist to go back in a few months if it starts to bother me or increases in size! She said it should die down, but I don't think that it has shrunk in the last couple of days at all depsite staying dosed up on bonjella gel & 400mg ibuprofen tablets.

I don't know what to do!!!! please help me!!!
