Will My Hair Grow Back....I Have Lost More Than 6inches

will my hair grow back....I have lost more than 6inches of hair within the last year...my hair has thinned considerably, hair is brittle, scalp is dry...I have not visited a physician...however my sister had a thyroid condition including a very large goiter [I realize it is hereditary]
