Question:

Hello Doctor,
My Wife is 37 weeks 5 days pregnant.
Till 33 weeks, everything was normal.
In the growth scan on 36 weeks, AC has come at 5 percentile for GA. Rest parameters were between 15 to 60%.
Internal examination conducted at 37 weeks suggested the baby position of cephalic 3/5.
The doctor has suggested to get induced labor at 38 weeks as she feel that baby might not be getting enough nutrition from placenta
Please suggest if this is the best course of action or shall we wait for couple of weeks more?
Also does a induced labour increases the chance of C-sec substantially?
Thanks, XXXXXXX and Tanmay

Please find attached USG reports and let us know if you have queries.
Brief Answer:
Induced labor helps in normal delivery.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through your query and understand your health concerns.
I have seen the attached USG report. The fetal parameters are alright and the baby is mature and can be delivered. The scan states that there is a history of leaking through vagina. If there is any leakage of fluid then an immediate induction is needed as the if the fluid around the baby decreases then the chances of infection are more and chances of normal delivery decreases.
The induction of labor does not increase the chances of C-section rather if the induction is done at the right time then it helps in a normal delivery of the baby. It also decreases the chances of fetal distress due to late onset of natural labor pains. In case your gynecologist has suggested for induction then it is best to go for it to have better chances of a normal delivery and a healthy baby.
I hope this answers your query.
