Question : Hello Doctor,
I have had an oily scalp and heavy dandruff problem for the past 10 years, I met a dermatologist (s) and they said it's symptoms could be related to seborrheic dermatitis. Due to this I lost 50%hair and the front side more baldness started.. But Hair fall and oily scalp persist and haven't stopped or reduced the oily symptoms. (working in IT culture and the age of 35 year/ male). As dr advised,I used a vitamins tablet (follohair /hairbless), shampoo (Nizoral 1% keto and sebowash shampoo).. It's been a long time i am facing this symptoms so i stopped to use vitamin tablet but shampoo weekly one or two time using nizoral and 15 days once one time Sebhowash if SOS (for past 5 years both shampoo only ) don't like to apply or change more products. This shampoo at least Okey to me.
But recently i traveled to western countries for a year now and the climate is very chill.. oily scalp and dandruff is ridiculous increasing, very extreme level of dandruff and hair loss started
Attached the current picture of my scalp and hair status. You may see the dandruff is noticeable .After shampoo this dandruff is very noticeable like entirely the head of oily with paste. So I met a trichologist, He advised me to continue nizoral shampoo and ask to reduce carbohydrates levels . i changed my diet and added fruits, nuts and seeds and fish but results are not much helpful.
I had a mail followup with dr and advised me to take zinc and vitamin d and good supplements for further .
I searched for daily limits of supplement on the internet and I purchased a nature bounty extra https://www.naturesbounty.com/our-products/multivitamins/extra-strength-hair-skin-and-nails-5000-mcg-of-biotin-150-rapid-releaseliquid-softgels/
Note:- some nails are small broken and thought of taking supplements all in one cure so i selected this product based on reviews (my perception is right or wrong not sure for selection
But after i took softgel .. small symptoms are noticeable like burning in stomach and saliva coming to tongue frequently ( tablet used only one week now and now per day 2 softgel).. Now I feel my skin is a bit soft.
But I am not sure and taking the right supplements to my problem of hair and oily scalp (website mentioned above and attached) now am a bit scared to use . Can you please review if these supplements are okay to my purpose and requirements.. If any harmful so i can stop it.. Pls advice
I have posted my complete history .. Please review and advise the medical suggestions to cure and recover further .
Pls advise me your view of supplements, medicines, diet and all.. I would like to stop this dandruff and hate oily scalp trouble.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Management of seborrhoic dermatitis & hair loss
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photographs.
You seem to be having seborrhoic dermatitis along with androgenic alopecia.
It is a hormonal type of hair loss which has genetic and hormonal factors in causation.
For dandruff I would recommend you to use a shampoo containing combination of ketoconazole and salicylic acid ( kenz sal or salisia KT ) shampoo twice weekly.
For hair loss apply topical minoxidil 5 percent lotion on the affected areas of the scalp twice daily and take tablet finasteride 1 mg once daily.
These medicines need to be continued for 5-6 months to see significant results in hair regrowth.
Also avoid oiling of scalp and take a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
You can continue with these hair supplement medicines as they will again help in nail and hair growth.

Thanks Doctor for the advice and medicine .
Sure , I will start use this Shampoo and finasteride 1 mg .
Current situation of my scalp is completely oily and very tough to apply kind of cream / oil minoxidil 5% (daily 2 time wash may required) after cant go for work or any .
1) Instead of minoxidil 5 % cream any combination of tablet or syrup is available or ?
2) You have mentioned hormone imbalance ,Is there any way for slightly control from medicine or change anything from my side (specific diet or vitamin ) to recover?
3)As i mentioned in multivitamin softgel (naturesbounty) photo which was attached .,Can you pls provide your suggestion and view .

Welcome
Detailed Answer:
You don’t have to wash your hair twice daily.
Head wash has to be done twice weekly.
You can apply minoxidil lotion twice daily.
Finasteride tablet is for control of hormonal imbalance .
As far as diet is concerned take plenty of fruits and vegetables and avoid junk food.
The medicine you have sent contains multivitamins and minerals for the hair and it can be taken simultaneously along with the other medicines.
Welcome
