Brief Answer:
It is complicated. Short answer is, it depends. Long answer is below

Detailed Answer:

Hello Mr Shrikant,

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service.

1.

Cancers are not completely curable diseases at the present moment.

There are many causes for cancers, and one of the most important factors responsible for cancers is, genetic makeup.

We all have thousands of active genes in each of our cells and all of the carry similar but not completely identical genes.

Some genes undergo changes as we grow older due to spontaneous mutations, faulty DNA repair, exposure to ionizing radiation etc, some viral infections.

Such a wide variety of mechanisms underlying DNA damage which would ultimately result in either cell death or development of cancer, we can not honestly tell you if a cancer is completely curable because even if the cancer from the original site/location is removed, there is a very high likelihood that some cancer cells have already escaped from the original site or new cells will develop cancer because they also carry the same genes which are likely to cause cancer with repeated faulty repairs and minimal alteration.

That said, stage 1 cancers of the cervix which are very small and have not spread to anywhere else are more likely to be "cured" but recurrence chances are always present.

Carcinoma in situ can also be cured with appropriate surgical technique (complete removal of the uterus and cervix).

2.

There are many diagnostic techniques used routinely but the choice and the approach depends on certain clinical findings.

The gynaecologist will first look at the cervix and inspect the cervix visually which is called colposcopy.
At the same time, they usually take Pap Smears for study under microscope.

If Pap smear of Colposcopy findings suggest any abnormality, then biopsy needs to be done to confirm the cancer.

This usually accompanied by imaging of the abdomen, lungs and liver to check if there is any spread of the disease to these places, and blood investigations to look for any derangement caused by spread of cancer.

I hope that answers your questions to your satisfaction.

Wishing you good health.

Best regards
