Question : 13 days ago I had a series of symptoms that came on suddenly and lasted for about 12 hours... Heartburn, abdominal rigidity with cramping, lower back pain. I also had nauseousness but for only about 1/2 hour. Except for that initial time with multiple symptoms - I am left with a lower back ache similar to when I twisted my back, but that is in the area of the kidneys.
Is it possible that this is a slight case of e-coli? Or do these symptoms match something else?

I looked up the common symptoms for kidney stones and that doesn't seem to fit what I've experienced. I never had a fever and chills. No blood in or pain when urinating.
I always drink plenty of water including keeping water by my bedside especially since I experienced dry mouth from medications some years back.
I don't have the sudden urge to urinate but go as would be expected due the the water I regularly drink.
The pain I experienced was across the torso/abdomen area and abdomen was rigid the same way that I've experienced the few times I've had to throw up.
I will make an appointment with my doctor to have blood tests done after the holiday is over and they are open again.

Brief Answer:
Cholecystitis may be the reason.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back...
Most probably you are having cholecystitis and gallbladder stones.
You should do the liver function test, a total blood count and an abdominal ultrasound.
It can be treated by intravenous antibiotics and antispasmodics but the main treatment depends upon the exact diagnosis.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you good health.
