I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If MELD score is 9 then prognosis is excellent.Ascitis is due to cirrhosis or fatty liver(Better to get a new ultrasound abdomen done).
Proper medication,Complete prohibition and proper diet would help to prevent ascitis in future.
Don't worry about ascitis as its due to cirrhosis of liver i.e secondary to liver pathology.
If liver enzymes are normal and MELD score is less then 15 to 20 things are ok.
All he need is proper medication,diet and no alcohol.

AST IS 51 IS THAT BAD SIGN EVERYTHING ELSE IS WITHIN NORMAL RANGE ARE THERE ANY TESTS TO DETERMINE DEGREE OF PORTAL HYPERTENSION WHICH LEAD TO ASCITIS HE HAD SPECIAL SCAN FOR LIVER THEY SAID SCORE WAS 4 HE HAS CT SCAN NO PORTAL VEIN THROMBOSIS

Yes, there are two ways:

1)Physical old school examination- based on the presence of ascites or of dilated veins or varices as seen during a physical exam of the abdomen one could determine portal hypertension degree(most young doctor are not good at this thing).

2)Easiest and most reliable- Endoscopy is there to find the presence and degree of portal hypertension.

Answer 2-
Typically the range for normal AST is reported between 10 to 40 units per liter. Mild elevations are generally considered to be 2-3 times higher than the normal range. So it's insignificant.

THANKS A LOT THEY STARTED HIM ON LASIX --40MG AND ALDACTONE --50MG BUN WENT FROM 12 TO 49 POT ,NA ,CR STABLE WE WILL HOLD LASI AND REDUCE DOSE IS THAT SAFE SO HE DOES NOT HAVE RECURRENCE OF ASCITIS THIS WILL BE MY LAST QUESTION IF YOU NEED TO CHARGE ANOTHER FEE PLEASE USE MY MASTERCARD ON YOUR FILE OR I WILL SEND AGAIN INFO AND NO OF MY MASTERCARD PL CHARGE AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME THANX

Hello again my dear patient,
Lasix and aldactone both are diuretics and would dehydrate the body.Due to this dehydration the concentration of blood urea nitrogen would increase.In easy words if you add a tea spoon of sugar to one cup of water and in second case add it to half cup of water(dehydration) concentration of sugar would be much high in second case.
