Question : About 2 weeks ago I used Head and shoulders instead of body soap to masturbate in the shower. The next morning I had a slight burn when I urinated in the morning. The burning has gone away, but when I tried to masturbate again my penis was tender when I touched it. Is this a friction burn? I do see just a very slight redness on my shaft, but it's barley visible. No recognizable friction or burn marks at all. Thank You.

                                    Brief Answer:
Probably a contact dermatitis from the shampoo use.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your symptoms seem to be related to a an allergic reaction from the soap.
I recommend to use cool compresses in the area.
An ice pack or another cool compress can relieve irritation.
I also recommend d to use a moisturizer such as Calmine lotion to relieve the symptoms.
I suggest to wash the area regularly with a non-irritating, soap-free cleanser.

Thank you, my penis shows no marks at all. I can see a very slight red area on my shaft but it's almost non visible. When I do urinate I have no burning at all, but when im done I feel a slight soreness in my shaft. Can urine flow inside of my penis agitate the chemical burn?
