About One Month Ago, I Noticed The Index Finger Of
Question: About one month ago, I noticed the index finger of my left hand would twitch uncontrollably if I held my hand in a specific position such as holding up a paper with my index finger but exerting no muscular effort. The area at the base of my finger between the index finger and thumb appeared to be where the twitching emanated from. I have no loss of strength in the finger or my hand and only when my hand is at rest and I hold my index finger gently away from my other fingers does this occur. few days ago, I was using my right hand to vigorously mix some frozen food by twisting and turning a kitchen tool. I noticed a short time afterward that when I attempted to type on my key pad, my fingers were twitching uncontrollably as if playing a piano. It stopped within twenty minutes or so and has not returned since. Are these two conditions related? does this sound serious? I have not lost any strength in either hand. Thank you

While you are keeping the particular fingers away in certain positions this seems to be most likely cause. The possibility is more as there is no loss of muscle strength.
The second event is also appears related as there was twitching after some form of exertion which occurs often with advanced age.
The available description does not signify something serious as this is common problem with advancement of age and often non serious.

Doctor, as I explained, the issue with the fingers of my right hand twitching has not returned and was related to vigorously mixing food and utilizing moderate strength over a few minutes..
The problem with the twitching of my index finger of my left hand when holding it away from my other fingers but not exerting any force against anything seems to be constant. .It does not twitch if applying strength such as opening a bottle or picking up something with my thumb and index finger. It seems to only twitch when holding it away and upward but not exerting any muscular force. it does not twitch at all if I hold my fingers together and out stretched.
