Hi.

I have not had liver function test or scan.
However I fear that my binge drinking of alcohol has damaged it.
This is why I now wish to stop alcohol in take and care for my liver.
I regularly feel discomfort as in heartburn.

Hi,
I would advise you to get ultrasound scan of the abdomen and the liver function test be done to assess the extent of damage to liver.
If the tests show that you have only a fatty liver and a normal liver function test, then quitting alcohol intake alone is enough.
On the other hand if the tests show anything like an alcoholic hepatitis or a cirrhosis of liver, then further testing may be required.
Hence discuss with your doctor about getting a ultrasound scan of abdomen and a liver function test done.
