Question : i had a small breast cancer 32 years ago (BCS+radiation) and recently was found to have a 3mm DCIS in the same breast. Any reason why this would happen so many years later? I'm so anxious this may be the start of more malignancy in my body.

                                    Brief Answer:
It can be just a coincidence that happened twice in the same breast.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I don't find that this 3mm DCIS is related to the cancer you had 32 years ago.
32 years is a very long time to develop metastasis or reoccurrence.
I believe that it is just a coincidence that the both cancers happened in the same breast.
There is not much reason to think that this can be the start of more malignancy in your body.
The dimensions are so small that can't make you think of other metastasis in body.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
