Brief Answer:
Clarithromycin and cefixime can be given for infants

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM

I understand your concerns but don't worry. You may give clarithromycin and cefixime for severe pneumonia to infants. Otrivin (normal saline) drops can be used for blocked nose. All these medicines are safe.

Vaccination can be given once pneumonia improve.

Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care

Thanks for your reply . My baby 58 days old is given otrinoz baby drops. It is xylometazoline hcl and sorbitol nasal drops. Is it ok to go for it?
I still have no clue regarding whether her disease was bronchiolitis or pneumonia.she didn't have fever but intense cough and running nose.could hear a sound when she breathes and it still persists even after the course of antibiotics. And is it ok to go for vaccination if she has phlegm and coughs twice or thrice a day?

Brief Answer:
Check pneumonia by chest X Ray

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Its not advisable to go for xylometazolin drops at this age. I would recommend non medicated saline nasal drops as they are safe.

Antibiotics do not help in bronchiolitis. Pneumonia can be ruled out by chest X Ray. Avoid antibiotics if no pneumonia present. Use room humidifier, hypertonic saline nebulisation (4-6 times/day) and decongestant drops (eg. Maxtra or T minic 0.5 ml thrice daily) if he has just bronchiolitis. The episode usually improves over 1-2 weeks.

You may continue with routine vaccination. Cough and phlegm are not contraindications to vaccination.

Take care
