Question : I'm a healthy 73 yr.old and I have no exisiting problems except "white coat " high bp. Iam not taking any blood pressure medicine for this. I'm going to have some oral surgery this afternoon and I was wondering if I can take either 800 mg of ibuprofen or 500 mg of naproxen befoe it. I'm going to have an implant taken out. Which of these meds is better? I understand they both should be taken with food. Thank you.

Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
I would not recommend you any of these medicines at present as these are pain killers and adequate analgesia is being given prior to surgery or post surgery. So, you don't need to take any of the medicine.
If your blood pressure rises as a result of white coat hypertension during surgery then they may give you Alprazolam prior to surgery.
So, just relax and go ahead for surgery, you would be absolutely fine.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
