Posted on Thu, 13 Jan 2022
Question: Hi, over the past three days I've had a slight twitch in my right eye. 2 days ago I also had a pain in the back on my neck on the same side. I woke up this morning and my mum noticed that one of my eye lids was slightly lower than the other.

Brief Answer:
Unilateral twitches are generally harmless.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Unilateral(one sided) eye lid twitching or spasms are harmless and does not signify any disease conditions. It will resolve by it own in few days without any treatment.
The probable causes for twitches are eye strain as in prolonged TV/ computer use, sleep deprivation, eyelid irritation and use of caffeine/alcohol.
The photo also looks normal apart very mild edema of one of the lid. It may be due to eye strain or eye lid irritation which may predispose to twitches. Neck pain could not be attributed to this.
You have to seek medical advice in case of redness or discharge from eyes, or in case of visual disturbances.
As of now, no treatment is required.

Wishing you good health.
Thanks

Hi, it's been a few days and one eyelid still seems slightly lower than the other. The twitching is still there but doesn't happen as frequently as it did.

Brief Answer:
You can wait a couple more days

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I think you can wait for a couple of days more. If symptoms still persist, I'd suggest consulting an Ophthalmologist and get evaluated further.

Thanks and Regards
