Question: I was in the delievery room for the birth of my grandaughter. After a visit to her doctor for leaking and cramps we were sent to hospital. Her due date was that day. Upon arrival they settled her in and approximately 7 hours later we we taken to ultrasound department. XXXXXXX my daughter was in there about one and half hours. The tech told us the was very little fluid in sack and sent her back to her room. IV was started at about 2 and we pushed oral fluids. XXXXXXX recieved an epidural at around 9 pm with 3 tries. She feel asleep till 5am and at 6 am we were informed they were gonna let her push. The doctor used KY to constitly widen the vagina. XXXXXXX did excellant with direction to push and finally XXXX's head emerged an the embical cord was around her neck. I was amazed the doctor put her finger under the cord over her head so fast.i noticed she had maccomeim down the back of head but not near face or nose or mouth. I do not remember her score but the team had no other concerns expect for the day I nursery without mommy for obervation and whatever treatment from the maccomien. XXXXs sack was almost black in color and except for jelly at the top very dry. I know I was concerned about the color so I touched it.very little blood almost no fluid came out. My grandaughter is exhibiting warning signs of autism, she is 22 months old. She attends a program which she started at six months old, 5 days a week. Just of the few concerns after research are eye contant, plays by self, Picky eating, shaking hands and twirls when excited.she really tense up and makes it diffuculties to hold her after bath time or when stopped from something she's want or do that she can't have. She becomes so rudgid in these situatins she hurts her parents back with her strength. She loves looking at children's books independently up to 2 hours. I am worried because the research provided list of warning signs and she is exhibiting over half. She is an only child and by choice it will remain that way. A truely beautiful child a little under weight but tall and thin. She has revived all her vaccinations to date, average amount of colds and coughs, minimal diarhria and vomiting an about 3 fevers due to ear infections. Generally happy baby but not a great communication feedback meaning she does not acknowledge when call her name or make eye contacts. She will not use a spoon and still on the bottle at night. Hates the regular sippy cup so she has a sippy cup but nipple still requires sucking. Aremy concerns just ligit or am I over reacting. Please advise.my daughter thinks she is just spoiled and a little diva and so wanted and loved they due most of the spoiling out of love. Early detection is so important. Her pediatrician at last checkup did mention to XXXXXXX her concern with eye contact but said they will watch it and talk next time. She shakes her opens hand Twerls around and arms become very rigid and she babbles and smiles but u cannot understand hr. She also only says DaDa clearly, no byebye wave but does listen to a soft firm tone "no". Can u help me better understand and can her birth be related to autism.

Brief Answer:
These can be early signs of autism

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

I completely understand your concern.
It has been seen that perinatal asphyxia (decrease oxygen supply to the brain whether it is intrauterine, during delivery or after that)is related to autism.
It is very difficult to diagnose perinatal asphyxia unless it is too severe to produce symptoms like respiratory distress, abnormal movement, lethargy or irritability.
I appreciate your observation regarding the behavior of baby.Actually parents are the best observer.
Although it would be too early to label her as a case of autism but I can't ignore the signs and symptoms you have described.
These are the warning signs of autism.
I would suggest you to make short video clippings,so that you can convince your pediatrician.
Early detection and management (behavioral therapy of baby and parental learning skill) will help in better outcome.
I would like to get her evaluated by a child psychologist with all the evidences for diagnosis and management accordingly.

Wishing for your baby's good health.
Regards
