Are Elevated Hcg Levels Good During Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2016
Question: I suffered a miscarriage in February due to low progesterone (8 and could not raise it even with supplements). I am now pregnant again and I took a blood test on Monday and my hcg was a 10, while my progesterone a 14. Yesterday I took the test again and my hcg had risen to a 70 and my progesterone to a 22. Is this a good sign for the viability of the pregnancy or should I take progesterone supplements anyways?

Brief Answer:
Take supplements

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. first of all congratulations on pregnancy. Hcg elevation points towards normal pregnancy. Doubling of Hcg levels within 2 days point towards healthy pregnancy. I will advise you to take progesterone supplements as it will help proper implantation of the embryo . In case of any further query pleas feel free to write further. Regards Dr Manisha Jain. OBGY SPECIALIST.
