Are Floaters In The Right Eye After Using Dorzolamide HCL A Sign Of Retinal Detachment?

Question: Hello Dr. Rynne, . Since it is Sunday, I cannot contact my ophthalmologist. I have glaucoma and they just changed my drops to Dorzolamide HCL 2%. I saw them on Wednesday. Today at 12pm or so I just started seeing a trailing dot of light moving in the vision of my right eye. Is that a sign of retinal detachment? I sent the office an email to go see them tomorrow. Can I wait until tomorrow?

Brief Answer:
Probably detached retina,I don't think you should wait until tomorrow.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Flash lights are probably related to detached retina.
This can be a very serious condition which can influence your vision so I suggest you to go to the ophtalmologist as soon as possible.
I don't think you should wait until tomorrow.
It can be diagnosed with an eye exam.
The treatment can be with the simple laser procedure or surgery in case it is needed .
