Brief Answer:
It is fine to have taken 4 doses

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Rabies is a lethal disease and the vaccines are taken in anticipation that the dog could have been rabid. But if the dog is traceable and if the dog has not died or shown any evident sickness within 10 days of the bite, the remaining doses of vaccination can be safely skipped on assumption that the dog was not rabid anyway.

The CDC recommendations of 4 dose post exposure prophylaxis is valid as the fifth dose does not seem to contribute to more favorable outcomes. So, you can safely follow the new 4 dose regimen and need not worry even though in XXXXXXX the 5 dose course is still in vogue.

Hope that answers your query.

1. So doc U mean Im 100 percent safe?? and nothing to worry?
Coz WHO advice for 5 vaccine schedule and CDC advice for 4 vaccine schedule...

2. If Dog Died after 15 days or more,,, of bitting than can we consider that Dog was unable to sapread Rabies on the day of biting??

3. Is Dog's Normal or abnormal behaviour matter even if Dog died after 15 or more days?? or if Dog survive 15 days or more than we can consider that Dog was unable to spread Rabies on biting day 15 days before or more..

Thank u..

Brief Answer:
Do not go into too much theoretical propositions.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

1. Yes, you need not worry. You are safe with the 4 vaccines.

2. If the dog died 15 days after biting, I assume that the possibility of the dog being rabid at the time of the biting cannot be ruled out. So, in that case the risk remains. But with that risk in place, surely you would have been rabid (and dead) by now. Since that is not the case, I hope you need not worry about theoretical propositions.

3. The question is whether or not the dog was rabid during the bite, not whether the dog could have the capacity to spread rabies. If rabid, abnormal behavior is likely to have been expressed.

The thing that actually matters is whether you have actual info on the present status of the dog. If not, forget the junk of theoretical possibilities. If yes, share it with me so that I could guide you.

I hope that I could clarify your doubts.

Brief Answer:
You need not worry

Detailed Answer:
You need not worry. Had the dog been rabid, it would not have been alive after 30 days. You need not worry any more about abnormal behavior in the dog since otherwise the dog would not have lived.

In case of a rabies vaccine, there are actually two types. One is an immunoglobulin which is basically basically ready-made immunity that provides immediate protection but does not last. The other is the vaccine that you or that child had taken. It takes 2-3 weeks for the immunity to kick off but if the rabies virus is actually present and if immunoglobulin is not given, the rabies virus can take its toll before your immunity is ready. In such a case death is likely as in case f the 5 year old girl.

However, you need not worry as you are not dead and neither is the dog. Although there is an entity called latent rabies, you need not worry about it and there is significant probability that the vaccine would provide protection.

Try to relax.
