Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Although the symptoms are nonspecific but as there is positive family history of diabetes so its better to undergo screening. Best method for screening of diabetes is to under "Fasting & Random Blood sugar level". Fasting Blood sugar level means that you must not eat anything after 9pm and then go for blood sugar test in the morning at around 9-10am. Random Blood sugar level
means that you can get blood sugar level checked randomly at anytime of the day after 1-2 hrs of meal. Results of these two tests will help to confirm if there is diabetes or not.
Type of diabetes is age related. If diabetes starts from younger age then it is labeled as Type-I diabetes and if it occurs in older age then it is termed as Type-II diabetes.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
