Hello, and thanks for your question.

I'd be happy to help you figure out if a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder is correct for you. This can be done online simply talking about your symptoms with me. I make this diagnosis regularly and can give you a good idea about whether or not pursuing treatment is right for you.

Tell me your symptoms and a little bit about you and your relationships, and we can get started.

I am very moody and emotional. have had a lot of trouble with close relationships i . have a lot of trouble with depression.
my father left when I was three and my mother when I was 12, ever since then I have I guess looked for a mother figure.
several I have been close to, but every one winds up walking away, saying I am to needy and have too many issues and drama. one suggested I may be bipolar, but I do not have the manic phases of bipolar.
I have a very big fear of being rejected, abandoned. and I can not stand to be alone.
I have been married for 14 years and have four children. no major problems as far as home life, other than depression.
and really not much with normal friends other than they say I worry, and stress too much.
the main problem I have is with the ones I would deem as the mother figures.
I really don't open up to many people besides them , and it always winds up in rejection. its not once , but several times over my life.
is bipolar a possibility, even without the manic episodes?

Thanks for this information, it is very helpful.

From what you describe, it is possible this could be borderline personality disorder (BPD). It is not consistent with bipolar disorder, as this requires a manic episode lasting at least a week. There are a few things that point away from BPD, however. You do not mention self-injury or suicidal thinking, which is common in BPD. And you have been married a long time with several children, which points to a stability in important relationships which would be unusual in BPD. So while I think this is a possible diagnosis, you may have a milder form of it. I think you would definitely benefit from psychotherapy to help you cope with your issues. I do offer text-based psychotherapy on this site via my direct link:
