Are Packaged Foods Safe For Consumption?

Question: How safe or unsafe are packaged foods really? there are lot of controversial views among general public on these topics.
And how effective are the protein meals (powders) from Herbalife and Amway? Which they call a 100% balanced meal in terms of nutrients etc.
Is it also true that women should be taking some vitamin/other dietary supplements after the age of 30? I try to control my diet as much as possible, include vegetables, milk curd, nuts etc and do not take anything in excess and avoid chocolates, sweets, colas etc completely.

Iam Dr Ganesh.

1.Its never a good option to take a packed food if you can get fresh food. Definitely some kind of preservatives / flavours are used to preserve and for good smell and flavour or taste. This he's to be accepted.

2.I would never promote / suggest any artificial products for healthy life. There are number of natural healthy products available for protein rich diet like pulses if you are vegetarian, egg and meat if you are non vegetarian.

3.If you are having busy life you can have them as substitution - Coming to particular company / product i will not able to say any thing sorry about it.

4. Women needs extra vitamins and proteins as the age increases and during the pregnancies, some vitamins can be taken if needed or proven deficiency. Other wise there is no need to take any artificial supplement.

5.Normal healthy diet with little exercises will keep you healthy, with diet - avoid junk, spicy, excess fat containing food. Increase fruits and leafy vegetables, good amount of salads will help to be healthy. Good luck.
