Question : I have pain and discomfort in left upper abdomen and feels like very bloated liquid in there pain goes into back and up towards heart, have steadily got worse over last 4 or 5 weeks. Been to doctors and A and E only to be fobbed off with IBS and Anxiety. I have no diaareoah but slightly constipated and strange stools. They put me on Buscopan, propanalol and Venlafaxine 150mg a day. All these medications havent helped if anything made it worse. Also you can here liquid like noises constantly, but the discomfort is worsening. Can you help please ?

Brief Answer:
Pls read my response in detail; I too suspect IBS , but other details wrong

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I too strongly feel that your symptoms match that of IBS, especially symptoms of fluid like noises, pain in the left rib region, etc. These are typically seen with IBS, but what I see from you query is that the medications prescribed for the management and treatment of IBS are not the first line treatment line that should be prescribed.

I would recommend medications like a capsule that contains mebeverine and chlordiazepoxide combination (e.g. capsule MEVA-C) that should be used only during episodes of IBS, and not others. Another detail that needs to be mentioned are the main trigger factors that cause the aggravation of the condition. Educating yourself on the condition is going to be the best thing you did to help prevent the aggravation of the condition.

Having been diagnosed with IBS 10 years ago, I can tell you with certainty that avoiding all trigger factors can most certainly help you to live a normal symptom-free life. Please write back to me for more details on the most common trigger factors and I would be more than happy to help with that information.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
