default
Posted on Mon, 30 Nov 2015
Question: My baby girl is about 4 months 12 days. She got 3 doses of Pentaxim vaccine. Now I learned that this type of painless vaccine is not effective and should not be administered. What should I do?. Should I opt for separate Polio vaccine. Please advice.

Brief Answer:
The protection is adequate. You need not worry.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Let me assure you that whoever has mentioned that the 'painless' vaccines are ineffective, has actually misinformed you. Although the immunogenicity of this vaccine is indeed lower as compared to the painful counterparts, this does not necessarily mean that it does not provide protection against the mentioned diseases. The protection provided by this vaccine has been proven to be non-inferior to the others. The following studies prove the same:

You need not opt for other formulations or a separate vaccines.

Hope that helps.
