Question: Hello,

I have been diagnosed with chronic gastritis. Its been now more than 6yrs. I generally have too much of flatulence. whenever it's very bad, I take torfix 550 which hels for few days. I am 32yr old, 175cm tall and weigh only 45kgs. I now plan to take some protein powders like ON branded Serious mass, which helps increase weight. But I am very skeptical about trying it as am not sure if it will have any adverse effects and increase my gastritis problem. Please advise me if i can use these protien supplements to increase my weight. I do eat nutituous food but inspite of that am not able to put on weight.

I understand your concern

On branded serious mass protein powder helps in gain the muscle mass.
But you have to take it with body building exercise.
Merely taking protein powder without exercise will not cause gain in muscle mass and body weight.
Along with protein powder and exercise take food rich in carbohydrate and moderate amount of the fat.

Excess protein powder in diet can cause indigestion and may increase the flatulence (as high protein cause indigestion).
So if your flatulence problem will increase then avoid to take it.
The maximum intake of proteins is about 25 to 30 % of total caloric intake.
That to be decided with consultation of a dietitian.
Take sound sleep of 6-8 hours and avoid stress.
Remain active throughout day.
For flatulence problem you can take tablet unienzyme
